Precision-cut 303 Stainless Steel Rectangular Pipe/Tube
303 stainless steel pipe is an austenitic stainless steel material with excellent machinability. It is widely favored in the industrial field due to its unique chemical composition and physical properties. The main components of this stainless steel pipe include 17-19% chromium, 8-10% nickel, and more than 0.15% sulfur is added. This feature makes it a representative of free-cutting stainless steel.
Compared with the common 304 stainless steel, 303 stainless steel pipe shows lower tool wear rate and higher processing efficiency during cutting, which is particularly suitable for mass production and high-precision processing requirements.
However, the addition of sulfur also brings certain limitations. The corrosion resistance of 303 stainless steel pipe is lower than that of 304 stainless steel, especially in chloride environments, it is more prone to pitting. In addition, its welding performance is relatively poor and hot cracks are prone to occur.
Therefore, this material is more suitable for manufacturing parts that do not require high corrosion resistance but require frequent processing, such as automotive parts, food processing equipment accessories, medical device components, etc.
In terms of physical properties, 303 stainless steel pipes have good ductility and medium strength, and the hardness is usually below HB201, which is convenient for cold processing. Its typical application scenarios include the manufacture of precision mechanical parts such as shaft parts, fasteners, gears, and valve cores.
